Eating Our Way Through the Orlando’s Farmers Market

Eating Our Way Through the Orlando’s Farmers Market

Orlando is so much more than just theme parks and tourist traps.

I lived in Orlando for four years while attending the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) and I actually didn’t go to Disney or other theme parks that often because #brokecollegelife.

However, I did take advantage of the events that always seemed to be happening in downtown Orlando. Last weekend I was back on my old stomping grounds and decided to pay a visit to the Orlando Farmers Market on Lake Eola.

Frushi and Frosé: Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

Frushi and Frosé: Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

Disney days are the best days, am I right?

This Saturday I went to Epcot to enjoy the International Flower and Garden Festival! This is by far my favorite Epcot festival, with the park being transformed into a wonderland of beautiful flowers and toparies sculpted into Disney characters.

My sister and I decided to take advantage of the stunning scenery to take photos for her college graduation announcements. So I packed up my camera bag and my sister wore her adorable Mickey Mouse graduation cap ears and we headed to Epcot.

Disney Essentials: What’s In My Bag

Disney Essentials: What’s In My Bag

This weekend I’m heading to the happiest place on earth: Disney World! More specifically, I’m off to explore Epcot for the Flower and Garden Festival.

When it comes to packing for a day at the parks, I consider myself an expert. I was lucky enough to go do Disney World every other weekend with my family for most of my childhood. After years of watching my mom pack one bag for our family of six, I have come up with my own packing system to ensure I have everything I need for a day of Disney fun.

Here’s a peek at my Disney essentials:

The Best Breakfast in Gainesville

The Best Breakfast in Gainesville

There’s nothing like a flakey, buttery biscuit hot out of the oven. There’s something about the humble southern staple that just feels like home. So when I heard about the Maple Street Biscuit Company in Gainesville, I knew I had to check it out.

The Maple Street Biscuit Company is THE best breakfast/brunch spot I’ve ever been to in North Florida. It has taken everything that’s wonderful about southern food and made it modern and insanely decadent.

Known for it’s extravagant breakfast items and fresh-ground coffee, it definitely lived up to the hype.

Exploring Silver Springs State Park

Exploring Silver Springs State Park

There’s nothing more fun than being a tourist in your own state. Even though I’ve lived in Florida for my whole life, there are still so many places I have yet to explore.

Last weekend I went to Silver Springs State Park for the first time. Located just north of Ocala, it’s a stunning park known for its famous glass-bottom boats.

Yep, you read that right. Silver Springs hosts tours in boats whose bottoms are made of glass, giving visitors a perfect view of the pristine fresh water that runs through the springs.

I had never even heard of Silver Springs until a few weeks ago, when my boyfriend mentioned wanting to visit the park where he used to go on field trips when he was a kid. It’s about an hour and a half from where we live, so last weekend I packed up my camera bag and we headed out for a day of adventure.

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my blog!

Hey y’all! Welcome to The Happy Floridian, a lifestyle blog dedicated to all the awesome things in the Sunshine State. Florida is THE most amazing place, and I can’t wait to share all my favorite Florida finds with each and every one of you.

I’ve always wanted to start my own blog. I’ve worked for blogs in the past and written for magazines, but never had a platform where I can write about the things I love in my own voice. So, when I finally got the courage to start my own blog, one question came to mind: do I even know enough about anything to write a blog about it?
