For those of you who don’t know, I live in Lake City, a semi-rural town less than an hour south of the Florida-Georgia border. It’s a city full of southern charm, and one of my favorite places is Lake City’s historic downtown district. Although it’s pretty small, some new businesses and restaurants have begun to transform the area into a place that caters to the younger generations in town.
My favorite restaurant in downtown Lake City is Marion Street Bistro and Brewhouse. The delicious food, the chill vibe and the fact that it’s nestled right in the heart of downtown makes it my go-to restaurant when I have guests in town or want to have lunch with the girls.
The menu at Marion Street is super diverse, with everything from southern staples like fried chicken and meatloaf to more unique eats like Buddha Bowls and California Sushi Bowls. I’ve never met a dish from Marion Street I didn’t like
The restaurant if full of old Lake City memorabilia, vintage framed newspapers, exposed brick and the building’s original floors that have been there for decades. They also have live music and a full bar, plus they’re gearing up to open their own brewery right next door!
Here are some of the dishes my girlfriends and I ate the last time we went to Marion Street:
Traditional Chicken and Waffles: A half chicken, quartered and fried, topped with honey-sriracha sauce and smoked bacon. Served with buttermilk waffles and a side of whipped honey-berry butter.
American Veggie Flatbread: Bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, black olives and mozzarella (chicken added)
Cajun Ribeye and Shrimp: 10 oz ribeye steak topped with cajun shrimp and a parmesan cream sauce. Served with a side of red beans and rice and macaroni and cheese.
Mozzarella sticks
Bang-Bang Shrimp
Next time you’re in Lake City, make sure you stop on by. You’ll be glad you did!
